David Goodwin

David Goodwin is a member of Gustafson Gluek PLLC. David is active in the Federal Bar Association on the national level as well as with the Minnesota Chapter and has held many leadership positions within those organizations over the years. 

David joined Gustafson Gluek in 2008 and began practicing in the areas of antitrust, securities, and consumer protection.  He has represented number individuals and small business in class actions and other complex litigation.  David became a member at Gustafson Gluek in 2015.   Prior to joining Gustafson Gluek,  David clerked for Grotefeld & Denenberg in Chicago, working on insurance subrogation litigation. He also clerked in the General Counsel’s Office of TCF Bank in Wayzata, MN, where he handled a range of regulatory and compliance matters.

David is active in the Federal Bar Association on the national level as well as with the Minnesota Chapter. He has served as a National Director of the FBA. He is also a past Chair of the Younger Lawyers Division. Currently, he is an Eight Circuit Vice President. David is also a Director of the Minnesota Chapter of the FBA, where he serves as the FBA Liaison for the Pro Se Project, which matches pro se civil litigants with pro bono counsel. He has also served as counsel in several Pro Se Project cases, David is also active with the Minnesota State Bar Association, where he has served as a Co-Chair of the Consumer Litigation Section.

David has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and as a North Star Lawyer for providing over 50 hours of pro bono legal services in a year.

  • David is currently representing proposed classes of consumers who were charged an impermissible commission for AARP Medigap Insurance in Krukas et al. v. AARP, Inc., et al., (D.D.C.). He also represents a proposed class of individuals who were charged impermissible premiums for travel insurance in Salmons v. National Railroad Passenger Corp., d/b/a AMTRAK (D.D.C.).

    David also represents vehicle owners in class actions and proposed class actions in various cases. In FCA US LLC Monostable Electronic Gearshifts Litig. (E.D. Mich.), the court recently certified an issue-based class of drivers from 21 states who can collectively pursue their claims that the gearshifts in their automobiles were defectively designed. David also represents a proposed class of individuals who own Yamaha off-road vehicles that are subject to catastrophic overheating. Krautkramer v. Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (D. Minn.).
