Julia Okerman

Julia joins Gustafson Gluek after completing her second year at Mitchell Hamline Law School. Julia holds a B.A. in Music with a minor in English Studies from South Dakota State University. Julia previously worked as a legal assistant and as a professor’s research assistant where she honed her research and writing skills. In addition to working as a research assistant, during her undergraduate studies, Julia played trumpet for many ensembles and bands including the Brass Quintet. Her favorite course in English Studies was a seminar on Tolkien, where she read both The Lord of the Rings and the British literature that inspired Tolkien’s work.

Originally from Fairmont, Minnesota, Julia currently lives in Fridley with her partner and two cats, Kirby and Hades. She is a foodie who enjoys trying new restaurants, collecting cookbooks, and baking breads and sweets. In her free time, Julia loves to read science fiction and fantasy novels and hunts for treasure at antique shops. Julia’s favorite show is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and her album of the summer is Pulsar by L’Impératrice.

In her final year of law school, Julia will be an articles editor on the board of Mitchell Hamline Law Review, Volume 51. While serving as an associate editor, her student Note “Preserving Manufactured Home Communities in an Affordable Housing Crisis: How Resident Ownership Offers the Solution was chosen for publication in Volume 50. Julia is passionate about access to affordable housing and is drawn to areas of the law that vindicate and protect consumer rights.

After law school, Julia aspires to expand her garden, raise chickens and bees, and pass the bar. She also hopes to pick up the trumpet again and join a community band. Welcome Julia.

Alberta (Betty)  Annan-Noonoo

Betty comes to Gustafson Gluek after completing her first year at the University of Minnesota Law School.  Originally from Pittsburg, Kansas, Betty earned her B.A. from Williams College where she majored in English and Spanish. In 2019, Betty relocated to Houston and dedicated four years to teaching 9th grade English.

Betty escaped the Houston heat when she moved to the Twin Cities where she enjoys exploring the food scene (and is always taking recommendations).  Betty loves trying new wines, jogging along the river and reading fiction. Her album of the summer is Empathogen by Willow. Some of her favorite TV shows include The Bear, Abbott Elementary, White Lotus, and Love Island (UK).

During her first year at Minnesota, Betty served on the board of the Minnesota Plaintiffs’ Law Association and volunteered with the Advocate for Human Rights through the Asylum Law Project. This fall she will be a research assistant to Professor Daniel Schwarcz and a structured study group instructor for the incoming 1L students.

Betty is thrilled to join Gustafson Gluek, and she hopes to gain practical experience in the consumer protection sphere.  Welcome Betty.

Kylie Lewis

Kylie joins Gustafson Gluek after finishing her first year at the University of Minnesota Law School. She holds dual B.A. degrees in Mathematics and Geography from Indiana University. Growing up in Indianapolis, Indiana, Kylie discovered and fostered passions for hiking and reading. While at Indiana University, she became involved with environmental groups on campus and spent relaxing time in local cafes. Kylie then worked as a barista, where she developed an affinity for latte art and freshly ground coffee.

During her first year at law school, Kylie served as a 1L Representative for the Women’s Law Student Association and became involved with Outlaw and the Technology Law and Data Rights Association.

Currently, she is enjoying the outdoor spaces in Minneapolis while trying to learn how to knit and attending summer concerts. Her albums of the summer are Chaos Angel by Maya Hawke and Tapestry by Carole King. Her favorite things to do in Minneapolis include walking around Lake Harriet and riding her bike through the different neighborhoods.

After law school, Kylie plans to use her degree and education to help people and positively change the legal landscape. She is passionate about the environment, voting rights, and data privacy and is excited to be working for Gustafson Gluek this summer.  Welcome Kylie.

Kaylie Vasquez

Kaylie comes to Gustafson Gluek after finishing her first year at the University of Minnesota Law School. Kaylie earned her B.A. in Political Science with honors from the University of Texas at El Paso, all while raising her now five-year-old son, August, working part time, and participating in the Student Government Organization. Before graduating college and starting law school, Kaylie spent several years in the service & hospitality industry, where she realized her passion for helping people and desire to fight for a more just world. Before law school, Kaylie worked at a small family law firm where she honed her communication and writing skills and served as a court appointed special advocate for children in the foster care system.

During her first year at the Minnesota Law School, Kaylie served as a 1L rep for the Latinx Law Students Association and the Women of Color Collective. This coming year, Kaylie will be a structured student group student instructor for incoming 1Ls and a Teacher’s Assistant for Professor Mitchel Zamoff.

An avid reader, Kaylie is currently working her way through all of Jane Austen’s and Sylvia Moreno-Garcia’s novels and is always looking for good book recommendations. She also enjoys binge watching TV shows and listening to all kinds of music.  Her favorite show right now is Scandal and her album of the summer is Chappel Roan’s Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Kaylie loves to paint, crochet, dance, and sing karaoke (badly). Her favorite past time is going on adventures with her son, and she hopes to spend as much time by the lakes as possible.  Kaylie is excited to get a bike to explore the Twin Cities!  She is thrilled to join Gustafson Gluek and gain experience in the world of antitrust litigation and consumer protection! Welcome Kaylie.

Elizabeth (Liz) Tsoukalas

Liz joins Gustafson Gluek as a rising 2L at the University of Minnesota Law School. She holds a B.A. in Writing and Rhetoric, and Pre-Law in the Humanities from the University of Central Florida. Liz has always been fascinated by the intersection of ethics and technology, especially pertaining to data and privacy. She currently represents multiple organizations on the law school campus, including Law Council, Technology Law and Digital Rights Student Association, and others.

Liz loves to travel and is constantly looking for ways to plan her next adventure. What’s left of her free time is usually spent catching up with friends or making new ones. Liz struggles to name a sole album of the summer without going into unprompted art-critic mode, but thoroughly enjoys Becoming X by Sneaker Pimps.

Liz is excited to work in a way that mobilizes some of her greatest passions at Gustafson Gluek.  Welcome Liz.
