Court Approves Class Notice Plan in NCAA Antitrust Lawsuit
On July 2, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California ordered notice to be sent to the certified class of Division I volunteer assistant athletics coaches in an antitrust lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Click here to see the order.
The lawsuit alleges that the NCAA and its member institutions unlawfully fixed compensation by enforcing a bylaw that prohibited schools from paying certain assistant coaches, functioning as an illegal wage-fixing agreement. The court previously certified a class of coaches who were subject to this policy and were forbidden from receiving any compensation for the coaching they provided. The order approved Plaintiffs’ proposed plan to notify the class members of the existence of a class action lawsuit as well as their rights as class members.
Gustafson Gluek and its co-counsel believe this is an important step forward for our clients and other class members who have been denied compensation for their work.
Dennis Stewart, Tony Stauber, and Emily Egart are the primary attorneys on this case for Gustafson Gluek PLLC.
