Dan Gustafson Receives the 2021 Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service

All of us at Gustafson Gluek are so proud of our firm founder, Dan Gustafson, who was a 2021 recipient of the Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service.

These awards are given by the Eighth Circuit Bar Association based on nominations provided by the Chief Judges of each District in the Eighth Circuit.

In choosing recipients for this award, the Association asks that each Chief District Court Judge consider the extent to which potential awardees have demonstrated the following characteristics of Judge Arnold:

  1. The person has achieved professional excellence in his or her field.

  2. The person has been a leader in the legal community as reflected in the leadership positions held in bar associations and other professional organizations.

  3. The person has contributed significant work toward the delivery of volunteer legal services to under-served members of the community.

  4. The person has been honored by his or her peers.

  5. The person has served as a mentor or role model for less-experienced lawyers or students interested in law.

Dan Gustafson exemplifies each of these characteristics.  Throughout his legal career, he has strived to provide excellent legal representation to those who might otherwise not have a voice in the legal system.  He has provided thousands of hours of pro bono work and has encouraged those at our firm to do the same.  Dan helped start the Federal Bar Association Pro Se Project in the District of Minnesota, which matches unrepresented individuals in civil cases brought in federal court with volunteer lawyers.  He has given countless hours to the Minnesota Federal Bar Association, having held numerous positions within the organization, including President. He has been appointed to lead numerous cases and has the respect of those on both sides of the table.  Closer to home, he has led our firm tirelessly since its inception in 2003, providing guidance, advice and mentorship to the many attorneys who have had the privilege of working with him.

Congratulations Dan! We are so grateful for all you do!
