Gustafson Gluek Attorneys Abou Amara and Lydia Lockwood Secure Significant Settlement in Civil Rights Breastfeeding Case

Gustafson Gluek attorney Abou Amara, with the support of fellow GG attorney Lydia Lockwood, recently secured a significant civil settlement* on behalf of a Minnesota mother who, as alleged, was removed from a facility because she was breastfeeding her young child.

“At their core, our nation’s civil rights laws exist to preserve human dignity in all places and spaces.”  Amara said.  “And these civil rights laws, in Minnesota, specifically protect a mother’s right to breastfeed her child in all places of public accommodation and, when they can’t, their core civil rights are being violated.”

“This case serves as a reminder that Minnesota mothers do not need to experience public indignity to experience all that Minnesota has to offer.” Lockwood said.  “Our laws ensure Minnesota mothers can be their full selves with their children in public, and we remain committed to helping these Minnesotans when their rights are violated.”

In addition to being a nationally recognized law firm for its complex antitrust and consumer protection litigation practices, Gustafson Gluek PLLC is a pioneering leader in civil rights and impact litigation.
