Gustafson Gluek PLLC Is Named in the Top 25 Firms in Number of Antitrust Complaints Filed And Settled Over the Past 10 Years
Gustafson Gluek is pleased to report that it was named in the Top 25 Lead Counsel in Antitrust Complaints filed from 2009 – 2019 in the 2019 Antitrust Annual Report produced by the University of San Francisco Law School and The Huntington National Bank. According to the report, Gustafson Gluek is number seven in the list of firms who have filed antitrust cases from 2009 through 2019, having filed 190 antitrust actions during this time period.
One such case is In re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litig., in which Gustafson Gluek has been appointed Co-Lead counsel to represent a class of commercial indirect purchasers of chicken. Plaintiffs in this case are alleging that chicken suppliers colluded to artificially restrict the supply and raise the price of chicken in the United States. Defendants’ motion to dismiss has been denied and discovery is ongoing.
Additionally, Gustafson Gluek was named in the Top 25 Lead Counsel in Antitrust Recoveries from 2009 – 2019 in the 2019 Antitrust Annual Report. According to the report, Gustafson Gluek has helped recover over $707 million dollars for class members in 48 different antitrust cases during the 2009 through 2019 time period. Gustafson Gluek was listed as 15th in the list of firms for the number of settlements reached in antitrust cases during that time period.
For example, in Precision Associates v. Panalpina World Transp (Holding) LTD (“Freight Forwarder”), Gustafson Gluek was appointed Co-Lead counsel to represent a class of direct purchasers of freight forwarding services and helped secured hundreds of millions of dollars in recovery for the class.
Meet two of Gustafson Gluek’s antitrust lawyers who helped the Firm to achieve these important accomplishments: Joshua Rissman and Brittany Resch.
Joshua Rissman has been practicing in the area of antitrust litigation since 2010, when he joined the Firm as an associate. Joshua became a member of Gustafson Gluek in 2019. Joshua has been selected as a Minnesota Rising Star by Super Lawyers in the area of antitrust litigation from 2014 through 2020. He is the Treasurer of the Antitrust Section of the Federal Bar Association, and council member of the Minnesota Bar Association Antitrust Section. In addition to his participation in the two cases above, Josh has been involved in In re Containerboard Antitrust Litig. (N.D. Ill.), In re Lithium Batteries Antitrust Litig. (N.D. Cal.), In re Optical Disk Drives Litig. (N.D. Cal.), among others.
Brittany Resch joined Gustafson Gluek PLLC as an associate in June 2016, after clerking for the Honorable Richard H. Kyle, Senior United States District Judge, District of Minnesota. Brittany is an active member of the Minnesota Federal Bar Association, where she serves on the Community Outreach/Court Camp Committee as well as the Membership Committee. She also serves on the Partner Leadership Council for the Minnesota Women’s Lawyers. Currently, she is working on the In re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation, coordinating and managing the discovery of our 31 class representative restaurants.
