Frances Mahoney-Mosedale joined Gustafson Gluek PLLC as an associate in 2021. Since joining the firm, Frances has been a vigorous advocate for individuals and small businesses in the areas of data breach, antitrust, product defect, and civil rights.

Frances has been actively involved in significant antitrust cases, including In re Deere & Co. Repair Services Antitrust Litig. (N.D. Ill.)., in which Gustafson Gluek has been appointed as Co-Lead Counsel. Frances is also currently litigating In re Change Healthcare, Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litig. (D. Minn.), in which the firm serves as Overall Lead Counsel. Additionally, Frances was appointed named Lead Counsel in In re Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America Data Incident Litigation (D. Minn.). In addition to her heavy caseload, Frances is heavily involved in the Minnesota Federal Bar Associations Pro Se Project, which matches pro se litigants to pro bono counsel. Independently, Frances has brought pro bono cases alleging constitutional and civil rights violations by state and local governments. Among those cases, Frances represented peaceful protestors who were subjected to excessive force by law enforcement in separate cases against the City of Minneapolis and the City of Brooklyn Center. Frances has been recognized as a North Star Lawyer every year she has been practicing, a distinguishment given to attorneys who provide 50 hours or more of bro bono legal services in any one year.

In 2024, Frances was recognized by Minnesota Lawyer as an “Up and Coming Attorney” in Minnesota and was selected by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in 2025.

Frances is an active member of Minnesota Women Lawyers, Federal Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association the Lavender Bar Association, and is on the board of the Minnesota chapter of the American Constitutional Society.

Frances has a Bachelor of Arts from Lewis & Clark college, graduating with a major in English and a minor in Gender Studies. Frances is also a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School.

Frances lives in St. Paul with her dog, cat, and two chickens. Frances enjoys running along the Mississippi river, seeing live music throughout the Twin Cities, and watching the Vikings break her heart on Sundays.

  • Since joining Gustafson Gluek in 2021 as an associate, Frances has been representing individuals and small businesses in a variety of antitrust, consumer protection, and pro bono cases.

    Frances was recently named Lead Counsel in In re Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America Data Incident Litigation (D. Minn.) to represent 1.4 million individuals who had their private information exposed and stolen hackers in July of 2025.

    Frances is also actively involved in the In re Deere & Co. Repair Antitrust Litig. (N.D. Ill.), in which Gustafson Gluek, has been appointed Co-Lead Counsel to represent a proposed class of farmers who purchased repair services from John Deere. In this case, Plaintiffs allege Deere monopolized the market for repair and diagnostic services for its agricultural equipment in order to inflate the price of these services.

    Frances is working on the In re Change Healthcare, Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litig. (D. Minn.), in which Dan Gustafson has been named Overall Lead Counsel to represent victims of the data security incident in early 2024, which exposed more than six terabytes of healthcare patients’ personal and health information and disabled the software that facilitated business operations to healthcare providers.

    Frances has also represented protesters in class and individual cases who were brutalized by law enforcement in retaliation for exercising their First Amendment rights. Settlements in both Samaha v. City of Minneapolis (D. Minn) and Wolk v. City of Brooklyn Center (D. Minn) have resulted in substantial injunctive relief, including policy changes within the Minneapolis Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol. Frances presented an oral argument in front of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals defending the district court's denial of the defendants’ motion to dismiss.
