
Michael J. Warkel joined Gustafson Gluek PLLC as an associate in the summer of 2025. Michael practices in the areas of antitrust and consumer protection representing consumers and small businesses. Before joining the firm, Michael served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Martin S. Fallon in a Minnesota District Court.
During law school, Michael completed externships and clerkships with the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office through the ABA’s Janet D. Steiger Fellowship, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and Erstad & Riemer, P.A. He also served as Student Director of the Law and Business Center and President of the Antitrust Society. Prior to law school, he worked as a legal assistant at a mass tort law firm and earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Minnesota.
Michael earned his J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he served as a Managing Editor of Mitchell Hamline Law Review and earned a Law and Business Certificate. He graduated cum laude, was named to the Dean’s List multiple times, and ranked in the top third of his class. The Mitchell Hamline Law Review published his student note, “Major Questions Impede Major Progress,” which examined the Major Questions Doctrine and its impact on environmental regulation.
Outside of work, Michael and his wife Brooke love going to local shows or playing with their dog, Georgia. Michael enjoys reading just about any genre of book, but especially history. He also plays drums in a couple of bands with his friends.
