Gustafson Gluek Recognized for Pro Bono Service

Three Gustafson Gluek Attorneys were among those The Honorable Michael J. Davis, Chief U.S. District Judge, recognized for their pro bono service in his State of the District address. Dan Hedlund, Amanda Williams, and Sara Payne all received the 2011 Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award.Sara Payne received the award for her representation of a formerly pro se client which resulted in a settlement with the Department of Corrections (DOC) in order to have halal-certified food available in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Stillwater.Dan Hedlund and Amanda Williams began representing a formerly pro se client just a couple of weeks before his case was set for trial, and they took the case through trial.Chief Judge Davis also recognized Gustafson Gluek as a whole for its participation in the Pro Se Project, with Gustafson Gluek attorneys entering notices of appearance in five Pro Se Project cases in 2011.For more, you can read the December 2011 issue of Bar Talk, the newsletter of the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
