Shashi Gowda joined Gustafson Gluek PLLC as an associate in 2022, and since then, has practiced in the areas ofantitrust, consumer protection, and product liability litigation. Shashi is committed to providing a voice in our legal system for those who otherwise might not be heard.
Shashi has been involved in several cases against various baby food manufacturers advocating on behalf of parents who allege they were misled into purchasing high-priced baby foods and formulas, based on representations about the quality of those products, when in fact those products contained heavy metals and other contaminants. He has also been actively litigating a case on behalf of Illinois consumers, alleging that Amazon violated the Illinois Biometric Information Protection Act for having facial images scanned by Amazon without consent or compensation. Shashi has also litigated several antitrust cases at the Firm, including In re Google Digital Publisher Antitrust Litigation, Mach v. Yardi Systems Inc. et al., and In re Packaged Seafood Products Antitrust Litigation.
In addition to his busy complex litigation practice, Shashi also makes time to engage in pro bono work. In 2024 alone, he spent over 150 hours representing an individual on a pro bono matter that was referred to the Firm through the Minnesota FBA’s Pro Se Project, which finds volunteer attorneys to take on civil cases filed in the Minnesota federal court. Shashi, along with Cathy Smith, worked to resolve the matter for their client, highlighting his commitment to providing legal assistance to those in need.
Shashi is an active member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Shashi graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics before moving to Minnesota. At the University of Minnesota Law School, Shashi was a staffer and managing editor for the Minnesota Law Review and a certified student attorney in the Consumer Protection Clinic. As a result of his experience in the Consumer Protection Clinic, Shashi shifted his goal as an attorney to assisting everyday consumers in navigating the daunting legal system. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Shashi clerked for the Honorable Judge Christian Sande in the Fourth Judicial District of Minnesota before coming to Gustafson Gluek.
In his free time, Shashi is an avid home cook who enjoys discovering new music, movies, and games. On weekends you can find Shashi scoping out record and coffee shops with his partner, attending all types of concerts, or making too much barbecue for friends and family.

Shashi is currently active in several consumer protection, data privacy and other complex cases. Shashi representing a class of individuals in a case against Amazon alleging that Amazon had collected their biometric information without consent in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. Hogan, et al. v. Amazon, Inc. (N.D. Ill.).
Shashi is also currently representing a class of online publishers pursuing antitrust claims against Google in In re Google Digital Publisher Antitrust Litig. (S.D.N.Y.). Plaintiffs’ claims center on allegations that Google unlawfully achieved and maintained monopoly power in the online display advertising marketplace and thereby was able to suppress the revenues that publishers receive from selling ad space on their websites.
In Mach v. Yardi Systems, Inc. (Cal.), Shashi is representing a class of California renters pursuing antitrust claims against Yardi Systems, Inc. and several property management companies. Plaintiffs allege that Yardi’s RevenueIQ centralized rental pricing software essentially acts as a price-fixing scheme that inflates the cost of rent.
Finally, Shashi has been involved in a series of cases involving heavy metals in baby foods and infant formulas as well as other consumer food products.
