Judge Grants Final Approval of Second Round of Settlements in Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation
On July 31, 2025, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois Thomas M. Durkin granted final approval of a $41.25 million settlement on behalf of a class of restaurants and other commercial plaintiffs in a long-running lawsuit alleging that producers of broiler chickens conspired to fix prices by artificially reducing industry supply. This is the second round of settlements secured on behalf of the restaurant class, which brings the total class recovery to more than $140 million. These settlements fully resolve the claims against all defendants and bring to a close this lawsuit for the restaurant class, which filed suit in 2016.
The Commercial and Institutional Indirect Purchaser Class is represented by Gustafson Gluek, led by GG attorneys Daniel E. Gustafson, Daniel C. Hedlund, Joshua R.
