Gustafson Gluek Files Data Breach Case Against Allianz Life

July 29, 2025

Gustafson Gluek has filed a class action case against Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, alleging that a mid-July data breach compromised the personal information of the majority of Allianz Life’s 1.4 million customers, as well as some of its employees.

Allianz Life announced the breach on July 26, revealing that hackers accessed a CRM (“Customer Relationship Management”) system used by the company on July 16, 2025.  As required by law, Allianz Life confirmed the breach with the Maine Attorney General. Allianz Life intends to send out notice letters to affected individuals on August 1st.

Gustafson Gluek’s complaint alleges that Allianz Life failed to secure its systems against cybercriminals, despite being aware that it was at high risk for a breach.
