Court Grants Final Approval of BCBSM MFN Settlement
Yesterday, United States District Court Judge Denise Page Hood granted final approval of a class action settlement relating to Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan's (BCBSM) use of "most-favored nation" (MFN) clauses in reimbursement agreements with Michigan hospitals. The plaintiffs alleged that BCBSM's use of MFNs was anti-competitive and caused prices for hospital healthcare services to increase. The settlement provides a common fund of $29.99 million that will be used to compensate class members and pay the expenses of litigation.Gustafson Gluek PLLC has represented plaintiffs in this case since early 2011 and was appointed Co-Lead Counsel by the Court in May 2012.
