Gustafson Gluek Files Unclaimed Property Case

Last week, Gustafson Gluek filed a lawsuit against the State of Minnesota on behalf of a class of individuals whose "unclaimed" property has been taken by the state without compensation or sufficient notice. The lawsuit alleges that the state took considerable efforts to collect "unclaimed" property, but made minimal efforts to notify the owners of that property before depositing it in the state's general fund. In addition, the complaint seeks to recover interest on behalf of plaintiffs related to their property held by the state. The St. Paul Pioneer Press has additional information about the unclaimed property statute and the lawsuit.
